SVW 2.6 Operator Training

Course Description:

Operator Training is offered to the individual who has little or no experience using SVW and needs to develop all necessary skills to operate and monitor a SVW system.

SVW operator training will be taught in the Windows environment. Therefore, it is required that the attendees have some experience in Windows. The attendee does not need to be an expert, but a basic understanding and ability to maneuver around in Windows is a must.

By the end of the two-day course, the attendee will be able to use SVW to successfully:

  • Log on to the system
  • Navigate and monitor the buildings' systems and equipment
  • Enter and modify schedules
  • Manipulate Setpoints
  • Monitor and receive alarms using Alert Software
  • View Trends

Prerequisites:

Basic knowledge of HVAC and Building Automation systems.

Basic skills using a Personal Computer with Windows 2000, or XP.

Day 1

Introduction To SVW

  • SVW Tools (Configuration Utilities, Draw, Eikon, Backup & Restore, etc.)
  • Overview of file/directory structure of SVW
  • Demonstration of the System Backup/Restore Utility
  • Explanation of the Configuration Text Utilities

Hardware

  • Routers
  • S/R Line
  • M/P/G Line
  • U/Z/T Line
  • ALC Naming Convention

Hands-on study of every operation available in SVW:

  • How to create effective Schedules
  • How to manipulate Setpoints
  • How to respond to Alarms through Alert
  • Viewing and Creating Trends
  • How to use Global Modify
  • Uploads/Downloads
  • Parameters
  • Status
  • Colors in SVW
  • Addressing
  • Channel Assignments
  • P, S & M Flags

Day 2:

Introduction to ALC Concepts

  • Explanation of ALC's temperature reset strategy (Trim & Respond)
  • Explanation of ALC's Optimum start
  • Discussion of Proportional/Integral/Derivative Control (PID) and observation of the results of various PID values using SVW's Live Graphic FB feature

Labs

  • Fan, Valve & Damper Labs
  • Wiring a Duct Sensor to a module
  • Eikon Reading Exercise

Practical Hands On Exercises

  • Practice Exercises Changing Schedules and Set Points
  • Practice Exercises responding to Alarms
  • Practice Exercises creating Trends
  • Practice using Global Modify
  • Installation and exhibition of typical system files by attendees
