WebCTRL Operator Training

Course Description:

Operator Training is offered to the individual who has little or no experience using WebCTRL and needs to develop all necessary skills to operate and monitor a WebCTRL system.

WebCTRL Operator Training will be taught in the Windows environment using the latest version of WebCTRL and Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Therefore, it is required that the attendees have some experience in Windows. The attendee does not need to be an expert, but a basic understanding and ability to maneuver around in Windows is a must.

By the end of the three-day course, the attendee will be able to use WebCTRL to successfully: 

  • Log on to the system
  • Navigate and monitor the buildings systems and equipment
  • Enter and modify schedules
  • Change setpoints
  • Monitor and receive alarms
  • View trends

Prerequisites:

Basic knowledge of HVAC and Building Automation systems

Basic skills using a Personal Computer with Windows 2000 or XP

Introduction To WebCTRL
WebCTRL Tools (SiteBuilder, Eikon, ViewBuilder)
WebCTRL System Setup / Explanation of Folders

  • WebCTRL's Network
  • Browser requirements
  • Logging on to WebCTRL
  • Navigating the system using only WebCTRL's navigation buttons
  • Discussion of the Geographic and Network Hierarchy (tree views)and how they relate to the system hierarchy

Discussion of the GRP and CFG trees

  • Overview of the WebCTRL Users Interface
  • Demonstration of all views (Graphic, Properties, Schedules, Events, Trends, Logic, Reports
  • Navigational Labs

  • Explanation of ALC's Temperature Reset Strategy (Trim & Respond), Optimum Start, and the links between Control Programs (i.e. Heat/Cool Requests, Demand Level, NET I/O, etc.)
  • Discussion of Proportional/Integral/Derivative Control (PID) and observation of the results of various PID values using the Logic view
  • Useful Command Prompt Commands (Ping, IPConfig, Tracert)

Practical Hands On Exercises

  • Practice Exercises Changing Schedules and Setpoints
